Creating a New Galaxy Tutorial

Creating a new galaxy may seem daunting at first, but the process is quite simple.

Required Tools

For this tutorial, you will require the latest version of Dossun2, as well as a version of Whitehole >1.5. This tutorial is only for SMG2.


Creating Galaxy Files

  1. Start Dossun2 and select your game path
  2. Click "New Galaxy" and give it a name. It must always end with "Galaxy" (capitalisation is also important) otherwise it will not be recognised as Galaxy. It should be in the form "[Name]Galaxy"
    This will create a scenario file for your galaxy.
  3. Click "New Zone" and give it the same name as the galaxy. It should be in the form "[Name]Galaxy"
    This will create a Map file for your galaxy.
  4. Setup the scenario by clicking the Scenario Editor. Add as many entries as you require. You are now able to edit the galaxy in Whitehole.1

However, note the following when editing scenarios:

  • Comets are only activated by certain Game Flags.
  • The same applies to green stars
  • There may not be more than 7 galaxies with the same world ID ("World no.").

Since there are already 7 galaxies per world in the original game, you can do the following:

  • Give your galaxy the world ID 10, so you can use up to 3 new galaxy slots.


  • Delete the world ID of original galaxies:
    • Open the scenario file of an original galaxy of your choice with WiiExplorer and delete the GalaxyInfo.bcsv file. This removes the galaxy's World ID. The galaxy ist still accessible, but no stars will be saved.
    • Give your galaxy the world ID that the original galaxy originally had.
    • Optionally, open the GalaxyWorldOrderList and replace the original galaxy name with your new galaxy name. This will show your galaxy in various lists.
    • Optionally, open the GalaxyDataTable and replace the original galaxy name with your new galaxy name. This lets you define the appearing criteria for your comet.

With this method you can add up to 32 new galaxy slots. The maximum number of scenario files the game can handle is 93.

Adding your galaxy to a world

You must now add your galaxy to a world map.

  1. Open any WorldMapXXGalaxy (except for 08) in Whitehole >1.5 and open the World Map tab.
  2. Select a point where you want to add a path with your new galaxy.
  3. Now go to QuickActions -> Add Connected Point. This will add a new point in the same position as the selected point.
  4. Move the new point via the coordinate position control at the bottom left side of the window and set the type to GalaxyIcon.
  5. Change the GalaxyName field to your galaxy's name. It should be in the form "[Name]Galaxy".
  6. Save your world map. You should now be able to access and play in your custom galaxy, however new text data entries are still required.

Note: If you experience any bugs when editing world maps, use the one from v.1.5.1. This one is known to have none of the bugs. You may only need to click on Help -> Controls to fix a bug that prevents you from selecting the various settings and values.

Adding Texts

The following text entries are required for a galaxy. These can be found in MSBT format in LocalizeData/XYLanguage/MessageData/SystemMessage.arc.

  • GalaxyName.msbt Galaxy Names
  • GalaxyNameShort.msbt Short Galaxy Names (for lists)
  • ScenarioName.msbt Mission Names

Galaxy Name

Add an entry with the entry name "GalaxyName_[Name]Galaxy".
E.G. GalaxyName_HoneyBeeVillageGalaxy

Short Galaxy Name

Add an entry with the entry name "GalaxyNameShort_[Name]Galaxy".
E.G. GalaxyNameShort_HoneyBeeVillageGalaxy

Mission Names

Add as many entries as there are missions for the Galaxy with the entry names "ScenarioName_[Name]Galaxy[X]".
The X must then be replaced by the number of the respective scenario number.
